1: Bell Double Back Two-Bike Trunk Rack
Bell Double Back Two-Bike Trunk Rack
I’m not going to lie, this is a budget bike rack so it’s not as strong and durable as the pricey ones, but none of that matters. I needed to take my pretty heavy mountain bike 200 miles and back without worrying about it falling off, and I must say, with all the wind and bumps on the road the rack held in place nicely.
The wonderful thing about this rack is that it’s almost idiot proof when setting it up. Once you figure it out the first time it only takes a couple of minutes to assemble and disassemble. It should fit in your trunk also without taking up much space. For the average bike rider who needs to transport their bicycle from point A to point B without spending much $$ or worrying about their bike falling off, I would definitely recommend this product.

It did the trick.
I bought it last minute to transport a 1974 schwinn varsity from Turlock CA to San Diego CA. I drove an average of 70-75. The bike and rack made the trip without a hitch. I rate this a four star considering the speed, the weight of the bike and the distance. I read all the reviews the night before. This rack did not damage my car and the straps did not come loose. Good rack for the price.

Good but takes a little effort.
Bell Double Back Two-Bike Trunk Rack
It’s easy but takes a little effort. It’s really easy to put it on but you must make sure, that you put it on low enough, so you can see through your back window. Also, you must make sure you tighten the straps correctly so they do not come undone. Other than that, It was a great price, and works great.

Bell could do it better..
Pros:
1) Best price in the market.
2) Metal construction is very good.
3) the reflectors are a nice touch.
Cons:
1) Lacks side straps/clips. Only upper/lower straps are provided. Definitely good for local trip with in 10 to 25 miles. Don’t think it’s good for longer trips. I’ve used it once on a 80 miles trip. It held up fine. But I would prefer to have side straps to be confident to drive at higher speeds. I was little concerned and had to watch the bike and my speed.
2) the straps loop through plastic buckles. Though the design is better with saw tooth, it could have been better if they were metal buckles.
3) to hold the bike to the rack, Velcro straps are provided. For smaller diameter frame tubes the Velcro doesn’t stick well. The thickness of the tube has to be really big to get the Velcro stick well. It could have been designed little better to accommodate different frame thickness either with a different kind of tightening system or buttons.

Bike Rack
Everything was OK with the product but the delivery required a signature in person. I am unsure why this was necessary. In this day and age there is no one that is not working so that means there is no one home when the delivery was made. Fortunately the UPS guy just took my signature on the delivery slip.
