You know its coming and it’s not sooner or later, its sooner. February 25 to be exact, will mark the start of spring training for the Colorado Rockies and, just as it has been since the start of this franchise, the Rockies will spend their spring training practice time at Hi Corbett field.

Hi Corbett is located in Tucson, Arizona and will again be the location of spring training for the 2009 Cactus League season when the Rockies will take on the Arizona Diamondbacks. Training should go pretty smoothly with the team since Hi Corbett Field has been the location of their spring training sessions for more than 16 years. Now that’s consistency!

Hi Corbett Field was built during the 1930s, which makes it a nicely seasoned location for all the participation that the Rockies bring to the training events each year. It should come as no surprise, likewise, that the Rockies fans love the location as well. This is particularly true when fans get a chance to watch their favorite team get out on the field and put in the work.

Hi Corbett Field derives its name from Hiram Steven Corbett, who served on the Tucson Baseball Commission as president for nearly 30 years. You probably couldn’t pick a better location for Hi Corbett Field if you tried either. Not that a true Rockies fan would need anything else to do but let’s face it, the Rockies don’t practice 24/7 so there is some time leftover.

There are actually five auxiliary fields which are situation around Hi Corbett. These fields are likewise surrounded by two public championship golf courses as well as the Reid Park Zoo. So you might catch a glimpse of your favorite Rockies pitcher or firstbaseman off Hi Corbett field as well as on.

There must be something to be said about Tucson with the warm temperatures during training season that reach around 75 because the Rockies just keep coming back for more every year.
